Analytics in the Dashboard Tab: What You’ll Learn About Your Trading
The Analytics dashboard turns your journaled trades into clear insights you can act on. It summarizes your performance, visualizes your equity curve, highlights your best conditions, and warns you when you’re approaching your limits.
Below is a user-friendly walkthrough of the sections you’ll typically see.
⸻
1) Overview
A high-level snapshot of your trading performance. Expect to see:
• Total Trades
• Win Rate %
• Average R-Multiple
• Total P/L
• Average Win and Average Loss
• Profit Factor
• Best Trade
You’ll also see a simple “Trade Distribution” ring showing wins, losses, and breakevens, with a total trade count in the center.
When it’s useful:
• Quick health check of your performance at a glance.
• Compare this week vs last week after closing trades.
Tip: If you don’t see much data here, close more trades — the dashboard gets better with sample size.
⸻
2) Performance Breakdowns
Drill into how you perform across different dimensions. These breakdowns help you find your edge and cut what isn’t working.
• By Setup
• Which strategies/patterns (e.g., Pullback, Breakout, Reversal) are your most profitable?
• View win rate, Avg R, and P/L per setup.
• By Instrument
• See your performance per market (e.g., ES, NQ, AAPL).
• Great for choosing where to focus your trading.
• By Session
• Compare London vs NY Open vs Overlap vs After Hours.
• Spot time-of-day consistency and volatility preferences.
• By Timeframe
• Understand whether your edge is stronger on 1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, etc.
• By Day of Week
• Find your best and worst days (e.g., “Wednesdays are great, Fridays are sloppy.”)
• By Volume Condition
• See how you perform under “High”, “Low”, “Spike”, “Declining” volume environments.
Each row shows:
• Wins/Trades
• Win Rate
• Avg R
• Total P/L
• A small win-rate progress bar for quick comparison
When it’s useful:
• Deciding what to stop trading (e.g., a setup with a low Avg R).
• Doubling down on your best instrument/session combo.
⸻
3) Performance Insights
An auto-generated list of actionable insights derived from your data. Examples:
• “You perform best with Pullback Entry (Avg R: 2.1, 8/12 wins)”
• “Best performance on ES with 61% win rate”
• “Most profitable during New York Session”
• Warnings like:
• “⚠️ Win rate below 40% — review entry criteria”
• “⚠️ Average R below 1.5 — consider better risk-reward setups”
When it’s useful:
• Weekly reviews to decide what to keep, tweak, or drop.
• Creating rules based on evidence, not opinions.
⸻
4) Equity Curve (if enabled in your build)
A visual of cumulative performance over time, typically displayed as:
• A line/area chart for cumulative R or $ P/L
• A zero line for reference
• Tap/hover to inspect any point
• Summary stats like total R, total P/L, and average per trade
When it’s useful:
• Understanding drawdowns and recoveries.
• Tracking consistency and trend in results.
Note: If your build includes an “Equity Curve” view, you’ll likely see a toggle between R-multiple and dollar P/L.
⸻
5) Session Analytics (if enabled in your build)
A session-focused view that groups trades by day/session and shows:
• Per-session trades, win rate, Avg R, and P/L
• Color-coded indicators for good/poor sessions
• Recent session summaries for quick scanning
When it’s useful:
• Identifying which days/sessions to prioritize.
• Comparing session discipline and performance over time.
⸻
6) Limits & Guardrails (if you use rule sets)
If you’ve configured trading rules (e.g., max risk per trade, max daily loss, max trades per day, allowed hours), the dashboard can display:
• Today’s Limits: status against your daily rules
• Warnings when you approach or exceed limits
• Violation history
When it’s useful:
• Staying disciplined under pressure.
• Preventing tilt and protecting your equity curve.
Related features (if included in your build):
• Tilt warnings (e.g., revenge trading, oversizing after a loss, rapid-fire trades)
• Cooldown suggestions after consecutive losses
⸻
How to Get the Most Out of Analytics
• Close trades with complete details:
• Outcome (Win/Loss/Breakeven)
• P/L or R-multiple
• Setup/strategy label
• Session and timeframe
• Mistake tags and notes
• Use consistent naming for strategies and instruments — consistency improves breakdowns.
• Review weekly:
• Keep the top 1–2 setups and instruments (your “edge”)
• Drop or pause low-performing setups
• Adjust rules if you’re frequently violating them
⸻
Troubleshooting
• “No data” or empty charts:
• Close more trades. Most analytics require completed trades with outcomes.
• Missing breakdowns:
• Ensure you’re filling strategy labels, instruments, sessions, and timeframes in your journal entries.
• Equity curve not visible:
• Your build may not include the equity curve view, or you might need at least one closed trade with P/L or R.
